Our Limestone MOT Type 1 aggregate is graded to Ministry of Transport Type 1 specification, making it suitable for use across roading projects as a subbase. It is most widely used in construction as a subbase for roads and highways. It is cheap, easy to work and permeable, helping to assist with drainage.
MOT certification means you can use this aggregate for public roads and highways. The granular material has a permitted top size of 63mm, and it is graded down to dust, providing desirable characteristics as a subbase.
MOT Type 1 aggregates can be either granite, crushed concrete or limestone. The product here is limestone. Limestone aggregate is the preferred material for roads because it’s very durable and compacts extremely well as a base course.
In addition to public roads and paths, Limestone MOT Type 1 is also used as a temporary surface on construction sites. It provides grip to working vehicles and prevents mud from becoming an issue on site. The aggregate can then be removed and reused.
Limestone MOT Type 1 is also used for bulk fill and as a subbase for ponds, driveways, sheds and outbuildings. The use cases are plentiful, and when a surface reaches the end of its life, the limestone can be recycled and put back into circulation.
The difference between Type 1 limestone and Type 2 is Type 1 has less dust. We supply Limestone MOT Type 1 in bulk bags containing 800kg to 850kg of product. Our aggregates are made to the highest quality and are trusted by hundreds of builders.
